“My heart overflows with a pleasing theme; I address my verses to the king; my tongue is like the pen of a ready scribe.” – Psalm 45:1 (ESV)

When I was pregnant with my oldest son, I had to stop working at the University of Phoenix. After having multiple miscarriages and experiencing a season of uncertainty, my doctor believed that my baby had the best chance of surviving if I were on bed rest. I prayed and asked God to show me what to do during this time. And he reminded me of the love I have for creative writing. I was that little girl who loved writing stories and always dreamed of publishing a book.
During this season of pregnancy with Kellus, I utilized the opportunity to educate myself on book writing and publishing to learn what I needed to do to become a great writer and publish my first book. I attended a writing group in Rockwall, Texas. I joined online communities. I connected with brilliant best-selling authors who later became friends and shared wisdom with me. I dove in. I wanted to be ready.
This scripture verse I mentioned today is the one I grasped early in my writing career, and it quickly became the subject of my very first blog. It was called “The Ready Writer.” I was inspired to be ready and willing to share the messages God told me to communicate and to do it in whatever manner he wanted me to say it.
Sometimes, this was through blog posts. Sometimes, it was through magazine articles and various media outlets. The point wasn’t for my self-gratification, although blogging is very cathartic, which I fully support and recommend! My sole purpose was for God’s glory and His purposes. And since God uses us as vessels to deliver His messages of hope, I knew the impact of my obedience would inspire many others to see my Father.
I genuinely believe that we must be ready and willing to write messages God wants us to share— testimonies or principles we have learned over the years. He wants us to be available and shift our focus to what he wants to say through us. Many people are starving for hope, love, and faith. We can deliver this good news through our writings and help change lives. It’s a blessing to have such an amazing gift to share with the world.
Are you a ready writer?
