How to write a book for your business

Books provide more than magical escapes to fantasy islands and chilling thrillers that you can’t put down. Books also help business owners create another avenue of income.

Chefs who hold their own secret recipes write cookbooks to share several of their amazing dishes with the world— and make money.

Financial Consultants who are trained and certified professionals and are experts at helping others manage and invest their money write books to share their knowledge with others— and make money.

For any profession you name, I guarantee there’s a book out there for it. Why? Because they wanted to use their knowledge to help the world and… make money.

I read a great article from Forbes and am in full agreement with their business book-writing strategies. I love this quote:

Before you begin, start by brainstorming what you want to communicate and how you want to use it.

So, how can you write a book for your business?

Start by creating a list of topics that you confidently can communicate. If you want to share your personal story, create an outline that includes some of the background you want to share. People love a great story!

Gather your resources. If you’re including research, interviews, or images, collect them during this stage and lay it aside for your book. Be sure to have permission for photos, quotes, etc.

Start adding your content. You don’t have to type it if you don’t have the time. Now-a-days, you can use tools like dictation software or voice-notes. Then, hire a writing coach or ghostwriter to assist with developing your book using your content.

Work with an experienced professional to create your book. At Create and Blossom Studios we provide book project management– a service where we create your custom book cover design, interior formatting and design, and more. Don’t stress over how your book will come to life. We can help with that!

If you’re looking for a way to make extra money for your business, writing a book may be a great option for you. You can sell copies independently without working with a publisher and keep all of your royalties. You’ll be an authority in your industry, which could lead to many more open doors!
